Southern Spur Enterprises is quickly becoming a leading provider of oil-field tanks and trailers, particularly those used for tank stinging and sludge transport. Based in Saskatchewan, Canada, Southern Spur also provides turnaround services.

Among Southern Spur’s most
popular oil-field equipment are
pressure trucks, aluminum sludge
trailers, aluminum semi-vacuum
trailers, and a combination steamer
vacuum unit. The company
recently joined with ARCO Trailer
Co. to develop an aluminum
dumper tank that increases
payload when discharging water
sand slurry. Oil-field slurry is
particularly difficult to discharge
because of its high solid content.
The semi-vacuum unit weighs
20,500 to 21,000 pounds. It can
haul 16. 5 cubic meters of sand
on primary roads and 12. 5 cubic
meters of sand on secondary roads,
according to company officials.
Southern Spur also stocks
full vacuum units capable of
transporting 31 cubic meters of
water and pumping 45 gallons per
minute at 2,500 pounds per square
inch. These units are vacuum and
