BP Paring Jobbers in Pennsylvania BP Products North America Inc. (BP) no longer will supply branded fuel to some jobbers in Pennsylvania, according to a company spokesperson. The announcement was made to affected jobbers in December and goes into effect June 30. BP will withdraw from 26 counties in central Pennsylvania and stop supplying branded fuel to terminals in Altoona, Harrisburg, Mechanicsburg, Northumberland, Sinking Spring, and Wilkes-Barre. “As a result of this decision, BP is terminating eight jobbers and
requiring nine other jobbers to
de-brand at least one BP site or
redirect at least one BP site to a
new designated terminal for fuel
supply,” said BP’s Scott Dean.

Florida Bill Calls for
Reducing Truck Idling
An effort to reduce truck idling
is among the provisions included in
a lengthy transportation bill on the
move in the Florida House.
The House Economic
Development and Community
Affairs Policy Council unanimously
approved a bill -- HB1271 -- that
includes an incentive to reduce
truck idling. It would increase the

Profits Are Returning,
Trucking Firms Say
Many trucking providers are
returning to profitability after
a long slog through 27 months
of global economic recession,
according to first-quarter financial
reports.
J.B. Hunt, for example, said
an across-the-board rebound in
business helped it achieve net
earnings of $37.5 million on total
Stage Being Set for
Higher Truck Demand
The fundamentals that drive
the trucking industry continue to
improve, according to Kenny Vieth,
partner and senior analyst with ACT
Research Co., to the point that stage
is being set for significant demand
for new vehicles next year.
Vieth pointed out that the latest
release of the ACT North American
Commercial Vehicle Outlook,
